Kyran, as you know, has mild cerebral palsy (in his developmental pediatrician's words "the mildest case I've ever seen), but has had a therapist come to our house once a week (recently every other week) for three years. Until now. Ann believes that he has met all of the goals that he will be able to in a home setting. Amazing. My little man is walking, running, jumping, climbing, swimming (with his puddle-jumper), and keeping up with the other kids very well.
So, what now? He has been referred to a local (as in 1 mile away) therapy clinic. We are on the waiting list right now, but will hopefully get in soon for him to be evaluated and a treatment plan to be created. Ann believes he will only need twice/month still, but we will see what they think. The clinic will offer a different setting, one where he won't be distracted by his own toys and comforts of home and one that houses special equipment that will help him with his core strength and range of motion.
We are so proud of Kyran and the progress that he has made! He has amazed everyone who has known him for the past few years with his determination and motivation. Kyran knows the meaning of the word "can't", but knows it doesn't apply to him.
Monday was a bittersweet day as we said goodbye to Ann at Kyran's last PT session. We will miss her so much, and be forever grateful for the progress that Kyran made during her treatment.
