Stop #2

We made it up to NYC around 8:00 p.m. after a pretty uneventful drive. The kids stayed entertained with books and electronic learning games, and of course lots of snacks!

We visited with my Great-Aunt Elizabeth and her husband, Bob, that evening, and that night Karyssa and Kyran slept all night in the same bed for the first time. I think they liked being close!

Tuesday morning headed into the city. We first went to the World Trade Center site, where we saw the Freedom Tower being built (that I posted about the other day). We also walked through the church right next to the site, that has been turned into a memorial as well.

It's sort of hard to see, but all of the green and orange across the street are WTC site construction workers eating lunch. It was pretty amazing!

After a quick lunch at Burger King, we headed to Times Square, where we spent most of our time in the Toys R Us store!

We walked around for a while longer before it started to rain and we made a beeline for the subway.

The kids were great on the subway, but Kyran is not able to turn his face into stone the minute he steps on, so he  was a little disappointed (as was Jason) with the unfriendliness of people on the train.

That night, we had dinner with Elizabeth and Bob and then turned in relatively early. We were exhausted!

That night, Kyran and Karyssa didn't want as much to do with each other! Yes...Karyssa fell off the air mattress and slept like that for who knows how long!

Wednesday morning we woke up and headed into the Bronx to see my great-grandmother, the kids' great-great grandmother, who Karyssa now calls Grandma Greats! We had such an amazing visit! Seven hours with her, and two of my other great-aunts, who were in town from Vancouver for the wedding.

The kids absolutely loved Grandma Greats and didn't want to leave. Neither did I!

We got to see a beautiful sunset as we left my grandmother's, and I got some nice pictures of the skyline from the car.

We went back to Elizabeth's and ate a delicious pot roast, headed to bed and got up the next morning to head upstate to my Great-Aunt Irene's house.
