Two-Month Well Check

Perfect.

I know this is probably a term that Dr. B. says to all moms with full-term, healthy babies. I know she has said it about Kyran and Karyssa many times. But the fact is, she never said it about them this early, and my sweet Gemma is perfect now.

Of course, every parent thinks their children are perfect (most of the time anyway), but when you don't hear it, and then you do, it means so much more.

At two months and three days, Gemma Rose weighed 9 lb, 9 oz. A 2.5 lb gain in two months, putting her in the 25% for weight. She is 22 inches, a 2.5 inch gain in two months, putting her in the 33%. Following in her siblings' footsteps, her head is in the 45%, at 37.3 cm. It was at least two years before Kyran and Karyssa were even on the charts in anything aside from head circumference. She is still on the smaller side, but that is to be expected from me (5' 2.5") and Jason (5' 9").

She is eating well, growing well, sleeping very well, smiling, making sweet noises, and just being an amazing baby!

For the past two nights, she has slept 10.5 hours at night (with short wakes for reswaddling and re-pacifying). As with her big siblings, she has been sleeping about as many hours each night as she is weeks old. I'm hoping for the same 12 hours by 12 weeks that we got with them. (Of course, her schedule may look a little different, since the kids start school in 10 days!)

I am still amazed with how mild her temperament is. She is rarely fussy, and when she is, it's usually because she wants to be laid down, has scooted to an uncomfortable position in her bassinet, is hungry, has a poopy diaper, or has gas. All easy fixes!

Her smiles are not frequent yet, but they are big and beautiful!

She is already bringing her hands together at midline and can roll onto her side from her back.

She loves to study people's faces.

Her eyes look more brown every day, and that's fine with me, because Kyran and Karyssa have the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever seen.

She is perfect.
