But on December 2, Gemma turned 18 months old! Her 18-month check-up was Tuesday and here are her stats:

Dr. B. was very happy about her growth and her development. I didn't even have one question to ask, which I don't think has ever happened. She is walking well and trying to run. She climbs on everything, points to things, and can name so many things. Here is the new list of words (that I've been able to keep track of) since her 17-month post:

As before, these are all words that she has said without prompting when she sees something that she recognizes or wants to do something. She has over 100 words now, and uses about 75 of them on a semi-daily or daily basis. She also repeats almost everything, and is doing very well with her letter blends. I've definitely heard her use sh (shiny, tissue) and ch (touchdown).
Here are some other cute and wonderful things she's doing now:
1. She loves putting her clothes in the hamper and diapers in the diaper champ. She gets very excited every time I change her. After she puts them in there, she claps and says "yay!".
2. She also likes to help me put the clothes in the dryer when I'm doing laundry.
3. Walking through any store, she will wave and say "hi" to everyone. If they don't hear her, she says it louder and louder until they do. Then, when we get halfway across the store, she'll scream "bye bye" to them. I was in a store the other day and asked a worker a question. She went to get an associate from that area, and when the other lady came back, she said "It must be you, because she told me to look for the woman with the baby who says 'hi' to everyone." She also now does a really cute side-to-side wave when she says it. And she randomly says hi to me throughout the day.
4. She has started very clearly telling me no and yes when I ask her questions. Her no is usually very calm, so I try to honor it. Her yes, is a "yes" with her whole body nodding and a big smile.
5. She is a big pass-around baby. She loves being held by different people and just staring at them to learn their faces. If she's tired, she tends to cling to her daddy or me, but usually she's happy to be with others.
6. Her favorite things to do are sleep, eat, and read books. She'll grab a book, hand it to me and then back into my lap so that I'll read to her while we cuddle. This might be my favorite part of the day (along with picking the kids up from school). Her favorite book is the big "First Words" book that was Kyran's and Karyssa's. She reminds me of Johnny Five from Short Circuit - "Need Input". She wants to know what everything is.
7. She likes to get down and walk around when we go pick up the kids. Kyran's friend Brigie helps keep her corralled so that she doesn't go too far or get in the road.
8. She loves to play outside, which is great because it's still in the 70s here!
9. When we get in the car, she will almost immediately take one shoe and one sock off and drop them on the floor. Not sure why she does this, but if I ask her not to, sometimes she'll leave them on.
10. She wants to copy everything Karyssa does. So much that the other day, when she didn't want to kiss me, I had Karyssa give me a kiss and then Gemma did too!
11. When she sees Jason for the first time in the morning or evening, she'll shout "TaDa!"
12. She has been amazing around the Christmas tree! She has not pulled off one ornament. For the first few days, she would just walk over and look at them, and turn around the ones that were backwards, but now she just leaves it alone.
13. She has finally gotten big enough to feel comfortable backing off of furniture by herself.
14. When she wants someone to hold her, she will reach for them and beckon to them with her hands. It's so precious!
15. She loves to eat apples. When we were setting up the Christmas tree, we gave her an apple in her high chair to keep her occupied. When we looked, she had eat half of the apple, core and all!
16. When she sees football on TV, she throws her hands up and yells "football"! The other day, we were coming downstairs and she couldn't see the TV, but heard cheering and did the same thing. Turns out it was a Christmas concert that Jason had on for the kids, but she definitely gets the idea of cheering for football!
And a couple of other notes:
1. She loves pictures of Santa and will say "ho ho ho", but did not want to sit on his lap this year. We might try to go back next week, but we were able to get a few happy pictures of her on my lap near Santa at least.
2. At 18 months, we took the paci completely away. She cried for a while the first couple of nights, and during naps for the first few days, but eventually just fell asleep without it...until she got sick Monday night. Then Jason, needing sleep, gave in and gave it to her. Now she's over her cold, so we'll take it away again tonight.
3. She has moved up to size three diapers at night, but we're still using size two during the day, since we still have some left over.
4. When she was born 3.5 weeks early weighing 7 lb, 1 oz, I figured surely she would be in 6 months clothing by the time she was 6 months old, so I bought a bunch of winter and Christmas stuff on clearance. Yes, my 18-month-old has just grown into all of those outfits!
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, but I'll try to post more to get it all in. We're so excited for her second Christmas, and having the kids home during Christmas break! Jason is also taking a week off, and the kids' birthday. He has a half-day on Christmas Eve and is off on Christmas, of course, so he'll only be working 2.5 days while the kids are out of school!
I can't believe my big kids will be seven this Monday! But that's for a different post. Now, here's a bunch of cuteness!
