Gifts and Talents

As Kyran and Karyssa are getting older, I just love to watch their God-given gifts and talents take root in their daily lives.

Karyssa has recently taken interest in cooking (due in large part to an obsession with Cupcake Wars), and spent last week at a cooking camp. She made trail mix, hot pockets (not the pre-packaged kind), dirt pudding, bread, energy bars, pizza and ice cream! She also learned how to cut fruit with a sharp knife. At the end of each day, she could tell me all of the ingredients and steps needed to make what they made. (We took advantage of the dirt pudding recipe, and it was delicious!) She came home Friday with her own apron and measuring cup/spoon set.

She has also started making cupcakes (with boxed mix and some help), and they are wonderful! She has sent them to work with Jason, brought them to church, and brought them to The Therapy Place. She wants to make some for the new neighbors too! She also is very good at drawing pictures of cupcakes and coming up with wonderful ideas about what type of toppings and fills they will have.

Another side of Karyssa that is coming out recently is her green thumb. She came home from cooking camp with an oregano plant and we are hoping she has good results. A couple of months ago, she came home with planted sunflower seeds. I was not expecting much, but she watered them every day, and, lo and behold, we had sunflowers! The rain has not been kind to them, so they aren't faring well now, but she has had four blooms!

My beauty with her beauties!

I thought it was so neat how the plant originally came out with the seed still on the sprout!

This one loved "Syssa's plant" too!

Kyran is still Wii-obsessed, and we are taking advantage of his love for that to put him in an electronic game design camp later in the summer. During the camp, he will learn how to design a platform-type game like Super Mario. He is very excited and already planning a future career in game and app design!

His other big adventure this summer is his first non-school play! He has had parts in the school plays each year, and has wanted to act for a while. We went to see a friend in a play recently, and he saw the audition information and that he was old enough this time. He auditioned for Shrek Jr. and was cast as a woodland creature and Little Shrek in the very beginning of the play! He has had two rehearsals and just loves it so far!

These two are a lot alike, but also very different. I love watching them explore their interests, and I love how they enjoy hearing all about their twin's interests too. They are (usually) so supportive and loving with each other.

God has BIG things planned for these two, and I love watching His plans unfold!
