Kyran and Karyssa will be 29 months on Saturday...and we JUST did this...
We took our first ride today, and they seemed to enjoy it!
We've kept them rear-facing this long for a couple of reasons:
1. It's safer. The new recommendations say that it's better to keep them rear facing until they're two. Our pediatrician said the same thing. Yes, they have looked a little cramped recently, but they never complained about being rear-facing, so we left them. We also never had an accident (thank God), but just knowing they would have had less impact was reassuring. They could see each other, and play with each other back there, and I think that contributed to keeping them happy as well.
2. It was more fun for people who sat in the back. On Sundays for almost two years now, Mercy and Banner have come to church with us. They love to play with them while they're in the back of the van. Now that Mercy and Banner are moving, we figured it was a good time to make the switch.
I'm hoping the adjustment is a smooth one, and that they don't have any trouble sleeping now that they have more to look at while they're in the car. What happened to my little babies???
