When taking her first bite of real food, Karyssa did just as we expected -

Kyran, on the other hand, looked like he'd been ready for his first bite his entire life -

Now that they are getting the hang of it, they both seem to like eating with the spoon, and don't seem to mind the taste of rice cereal. In a couple of days, we'll start adding veggies to it. We'll do one veggie for three days, and then add a new one every third day, to test for allergies.

The cereal seems to be helping Kyran's reflux, and both babies are sleeping very well for 12 hours!

We're also hoping that it helps Kyran start packing on the pounds again.

Their six-month check-up was Tuesday and Karyssa is growing like a weed. She is 23 3/4 inches now, more than an inch taller than her visit two months ago. She has also gained almost two pounds, and now weighs 11 lb, 12 oz.

Kyran is growing in length well, growing an inch to 24 1/4 inches (over two feet, wow!), but has only gained 12 oz since his last visit, weighing in at 12 lb, 6 oz. Apparently the 13 lb, 8 oz they told me at the last visit was way off!

We'll be going back to see Dr. Bartlett in three weeks for a weight/developmental check. Our visit with her is the day after the babies will be evaluated for physical therapy, so we'll talk more about their needs based on the results of the evaluations.

My cousin, Alison, and I took the babies to Charlotte again yesterday for Karyssa to get her DOC band. It seems to bother her a little, but sometimes it's like it's not even there. She does sweat a lot in it, and we're doing skin checks regularly now. That means that every three hours, we take the band off to check for red spots. We're supposed to leave the band off until the spots fade and call the office if they take more than an hour.

Twice, her red spots have taken over an hour to fade, so I have to go back up tomorrow to have her band refitted. I just keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it! On Saturday, Alison and I will be heading to Hobby Lobby to get stuff to decorate the band, so I should have pictures soon!
