Today is the babies' first Independence Day! I am so thankful for the freedom that we have to raise our children to be strong Christians, independent thinkers and self-confident individuals. Happy birthday, America!
After this week, I think fireworks might actually be a letdown. What a fun-filled, busy and life-changing week it was!
Aunt Harmony (my sister) and her family (husband Nathan, two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Ayla, and 11-month-old son, Lincoln) came to visit South Carolina this week, and we were lucky enough to have them for house guests! So, this week we had four adults, four children under three years old, two dogs that didn't get along and our two cats. Talk about a full house!
On Wednesday night, Aunt Daphnee (my brother Ben's girlfriend) came over with Marley and Kahlan, and the cousins were all able to spend some time together.
Yesterday, a friend of mine from high school, J.P. Stephens, and his wife, Wendy, came to the house to take pictures of our whole family. They were here for two-and-a-half hours, and I can't wait to see the pictures they took! Add in a visit from "Aunt" Pilly and one of her friends, and we had 16 people in the house at one point!
We had a great time, though, and it's obvious how much the cousins love each other!
Unfortunately Aunt Harmony and her family will be leaving today, and we won't see them again until Uncle Jon and Aunt Melissa's wedding in January.
On the life-changing note, Thursday was my last day of work. I am so excited to be a stay-at-home mom!
This morning we let the babies sleep. Kyran woke up at 7:00, and Karyssa woke up at 7:30. I'm hoping to get them on a schedule of eating at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., so we should be getting to that point soon. They are still sleeping very well through the night, and we are slowly starting to get them used to sleeping without being swaddled. We'd rather not have to break out the bed sheets when they get too big for their blankets!
We don't have any big plans for tonight, as we're not sure how the babies would react to fireworks, so we're looking forward to a nice, relaxing evening with just the four of us!
