The Burkett Bundle

I have been on a mission for the last several weeks to find the babies hard-soled size one sneakers. Their PT has suggested these, saying they will help with the toe-walking, but they are nowhere to be found. I even called the New Balance store, and they said they had them, but we visited them today, and the smallest they have is a size 2. The whole point of these shoes would be to not allow their toes to curl in them, but the size 2s are so big that their toes can still curl.

I have found some online, so it looks like we'll be ordering them online and hopefully they will fit so that we don't have to go through the trouble of sending them back.

Now that the babies are in their new car seats, taking them places is a new adventure. No longer can we strap the babies into their seats in the house and take them both to the car at the same time or simply take the carrier from the car and place it in the stroller. Now we have to take them to the car one at a time and, when I'm alone, I wheel the stroller to each door to get them in and out.

They do like the new seats, and seem to be very comfortable in them, but it's definitely a little extra work for us. They also like being forward-facing in their stroller all of the time now. They are so curious and just love to see everyone and everything that surrounds them.

When we go out in public, we always clip their pacis to them, so that they don't fall on the ground. Karyssa still uses hers, but Kyran has weaned himself of his, although he does still like to chew on the strap.

Kyran has started to suck on his fingers to soothe himself to sleep, but he usually has different fingers in his mouth and it's only when he's sleeping, so we're not too worried about him forming a habit of it.

Karyssa still wants her paci whenever she naps, but she knows she only gets it in the crib and the car seat. She does still occasionally wake up in the middle of the night to let us know that she has knocked it out of her crib.

One final update - on Saturday, we took them to get the first of their flu shots. They are too small to get the entire vaccine at once, so in four weeks, we will go back to get the booster shot. Dr. Bartlett has also changed her opinion on the H1N1 vaccine, so they will be getting those as soon as they are available.

They were so brave with their flu shots. Karyssa cried for about 10 seconds, and Kyran only cried for about two seconds! I guess it's nothing compared to what they've been through!
