Kathy and her daughter, Jamie, also joined us, and we had so much fun. We even buried my mom in the sand! Kyran and Karyssa just loved being in the pool and the ocean, and playing in the sand. Here are some pool and beach pictures from the vacation.

My mom met Paul and Laurie McKinnon when she was 10 and Paul and Laurie were four and three. She played with them in the park, and they loved her so much that she soon began baby-sitting for the two of them and their older brothers. She continued to babysit for them until she got married and moved away seven years later, and, by the time that happened, two more brothers had joined the family.
Growing up, Mrs. McKinnon was like a third grandmother and she is still my mom's best friend in the world (although she still calls her Mrs. McKinnon). No one will ever be able to convince me that the McKinnons are not part of my family.
One summer when we visited, Laurie babysat for us while my mom went out with some friends. When Laurie got married, she had two wonderful children, Mark and Stephany, who I babysat for once. Stephany and I have gotten in touch through Facebook and our blogs recently, and I've decided that she has to babysit for Kyran and Karyssa to keep the tradition going.
Friday night, Laurie, Stephany, Lynn, Chris (another of my mom's childhood friends) and Debbie (Kathy's little sister who is a good friend of mine) came over for a game night. We broke out Apples to Apples and laughed for hours! Stephany even wrote about us in her next blog post!
