Friday - Left home at 7:30 p.m. for an eight hour drive to St. Petersburg, Florida.
Saturday - Arrived around 3 a.m., woke up at 8 a.m., spent the day by the pool and at the beach
Sunday - More beach time, the St. Petersburg pier and back to the hotel to wait for fireworks that never went off.
Monday - Rainy day...hung out at the hotel, dropped Jason off at the airport, visited friends and took the babies to their first Red Sox game
Tuesday - First full day with just my mom, the babies and me. Waffle House for breakfast, pool and beach time and a quiet evening at the hotel while my mom went to the Red Sox/Rays game.
Wednesday - Shopping and the Red Sox game while my mom and her friend babysat.
Thursday - Award-winning Lowry Park Zoo, pool time, dinner with friends
Friday - Visited friends, pool and beach time with my mom's friends' twin granddaughters and game night with some awesome people.
Saturday - Packed the car, visited friends one last time and left for home.
My mom grew up in St. Pete and goes to visit every summer. She has known most of her friends since elementary school, and they are just like family. In fact, one of her friends' daughters is now one of my best friends, and was a bridesmaid in my wedding! I'm also good friends with one of my mom's friends' younger sisters and, although we went years without seeing each other, have become quick friends with one of her friends' granddaughters, Stephany (more on all of these people later).
Some of my best childhood memories are of St. Petersburg, and those good memories got even better after taking my children down there for the first time. I wish Jason could have stayed all week, but since we have another beach trip planned for later this summer (this time with his family), he decided to take his days then instead.
Here are a few teaser pictures from the week:
At the beach
The baby zebra was nursing!
Leaving the zoo with their favorite animals
Playing in the pool

So proud of herself for figuring out how to get on the couch by herself!

Love the minivan! Still holding out that you could have fit all that stuff in a Toyota Celica - no problem :)!!
