Kyran is a boy and Karyssa is a girl.

I can hear you asking, "Really, Talyse? They're 14 months old and you're just realizing this?". I guess what I mean is that Kyran is such a boy and Karyssa is such a girl. They demonstrate this in so many stereotypical ways.

Eating:  Karyssa eats one cheerio at a time.  Kyran shovels a handful into his mouth.

Drinking:  Karyssa drinks her whole sippy cup at once, with little mess.  Kyran drinks a little at a time, with milk generally running down his chin.

Sleeping:  Kyran breathes very loudly, sometimes snoring.  Karyssa breathes so quietly and shallow that I have to put my hand on her back to make sure she's still breathing.

Playing:  Kyran loves to explore outside.  He wants to eat grass and crawl everywhere.  Karyssa will sit or stand on the grass, but the other day, kept picking leaves out from under her and handing them to me, as if to say "This is uncomfortable, please remove it from my sitting area".

Laughing:  Karyssa has a high-pitched giggle, that turns into a high-pitched laugh when she is being tickled.  Kyran has a deep belly laugh, that is so powerful it usually makes him cough.

Body shape:  Kyran has broad shoulders, a round belly and a short neck.  Karyssa has a more delicate frame, a much smaller (but still round) belly and a long, beautiful neck.

Motivation:  Karyssa is more motivated by people.  Kyran is more motivated by food.

Personality:  Kyran is usually pretty laid-back.  Karyssa tends to be more high-maintenance.

Observation:  Karyssa loves to look at pretty things.  Kyran wants to put them in his mouth.

Perspiration:  Jason sweats, Kyran perspires, Karyssa only glows!

Kissing:  Karyssa has a very proper, tight-lipped kiss.  Kyran leans in with his mouth wide open and plants a big wet one on us.

Interaction:  Kyran loves to smile at pretty women.  Karyssa just stares and studies people, then, maybe, she'll smile.

Pride:  When Karyssa is proud of herself, she gets a humble little grin, puts her hands to her chin or in her lap and looks down, almost as if she's embarrassed.  When Kyran is proud of himself, he looks up, with a big smile on his face and begins clapping for himself.

I could go on...

It's amazing to see how two children with such similar histories and genetic make-up, being raised in the same house, by the same parents, can have such gender-specific attributes and personality traits.  It will be so neat to see if those traits continue as they grow.  They are alike in many ways, but have such special characteristics that make them such interesting, unique people.

Laid-back, with my mind on my dinner and my dinner on my mind...

Trying something new with her hair.  I have to find a smaller bow, but I can't believe it's long enough for a ponytail!
